At Home Resources
This is a complied list of some (free!) online resources that are available to engage your child in learning at home. This list will continue to be updated as I scour the world wide web for great resources for you and your child.
Literacy Resources
Epic Books
Epic Books offers a variety of books and read alongs for all ages and all levels.
Your classroom teacher may have access to send invitations via email to give you unlimited and free access until June 30th. Please check with them.
RAZ-Kids
RAZ-Kids offers levelled reading for students where teachers can keep track of their progress.
This program requires your classroom teacher to sign the students up. It is a paid subscription.
Starfall
Starfall offers learning through online play and exploration. Students are able to engage with the text and learn to read at their own pace.
Authors' Read Alouds
Many children's books' authors have started doing read alouds for kids. Your child can follow along as they read.
Vooks
Richmond Public Library
Vooks offers animated stories as well as lesson plans that families can use at home.
Even though public libraries are closed at this time, it doesn't mean they don't have online resources.
You will need to have registered with the library in order to access its resources. Check your local library website for resources!
RPLBC YouTube Channel
The Richmond Public Library has created a YouTube channel where they record read alouds that you and your child can enjoy.
Open School BC
B.C. has created a page offering parents and caregivers ideas for learning from home, everyday learning activities, additional resources, and how to keep healthy with your child.
Sight Words
This website offers tons of resources and ideas for teaching sight words to your child.

Cool Math 4 Kids
Cool Math 4 Kids has many different math related games for various math concepts.
Continuity of Learning
Janice Novakowski is an amazing Math Consultant in SD38. This page is shared with the public and other educators to help with the deveopment of numeracy at home.
FunBrain
FunBrain offers various math games to engage your child in learning different math concepts, such as shapes, measurement, and computation.
Box Cars and One-Eyed Jacks
Box Cars and One-Eyed Jacks uses simple materials (e.g. dice, playing cards) to engage kids in learning mathematical concepts through games. During this time, they've put up a resource page on their website, offering teachers and parents math game ideas.

Virtual Manipulatives
Didax offers user-friendly and easy to use virtual manipulatives to support your child's math learning at home. All you need is a device to drag the manipulatives to see math concepts come alive.

Animal Live Cams
Animals provide comfort for many people during stressful times, and many zoos and aquariums have offered live cams of their animals. You can see these animals up close and personal from the comfort of your own house! There are penguins, polar bears, sharks, pandas, honeybees, and much more!
