Week 7: Friday

Today is the last day where we will be using the book, "The Day the Crayons Quit," and finishing up our Creative Writing activity.

Creative Writing

Today, your child should aim to complete their Creative Writing activity. However, if they would like to continue working on it to make it even better during the weekend, do praise and encourage them! Otherwise, it should take around 10 - 15 minutes to complete Part 2 of their Creative Writing activity today.

Option 1

Pretend you're a crayon. What would you write to Duncan?

  • Part 1: Choose a crayon you would like to be, then brainstorm of some things that you can write to Duncan.

  • Part 2: Write a letter or postcard to Duncan.

Tip:

  • Make sure to start off your letter with "Dear Duncan" and finish it with "From ________ Crayon".

  • Adaptation: Have someone help you write as you dictate (say) it.

  • Extension: Include a picture you drew using your crayon.

Option 2

Write a letter to someone (you don't have to mail it).

  • Part 1: Choose a person to write a letter to and brainstorm what you will write.

  • Part 2: Write your letter.

Tips:

  • Make sure to start off your letter with "Dear ________" and finish it with "From ________".

  • Write using paragraphs: One paragraph can be about you, and the other paragraph can be questions to ask your person.

  • Adaptation: Have someone help you write the letter as you dictate (say) it.

  • Extension: Include a picture you drew using your crayon.

  • Extension: Decorate the envelope. If you don't have an envelope, you can make one.

  • Extension: Actually send your letter to the person that you wrote it for!

Message from Ms. Zhu

It is Mother's Day this Sunday, so I would like to take this time to thank all the people in a mother's role currently and doing their best everyday. Happy Mother's Day! Don't forget to upload a picture of your child's work or of your child working on their e-Portfolios on Portal. Thank you and have a wonderful weekend!
