How do I use a "Question" as a Hook?

Look at the picture above and write down some things that you wonder about it. Then, choose the most intriguing question and have one of the characters in the picture ask it.

Directions

  1. Look at the picture and use an intriguing "question" as a writing hook.

  2. Finish writing the rest of your short story based on the picture.

  3. Re-read your writing to edit it.

  4. Find a word or a phrase that you are really proud of and underline it.

  5. Check that you have spelled correctly the words you know.

  6. Check that you have taken a risk with unknown words and used them too.

  7. Upload a picture of your writing on your e-Portfolio.

My Example

I used this picture to write my hook and paragraph:

I followed the directions above and underlined the words and phrases that I thought were powerful and creative.

"Where is this creature dashing off to?" I wonder aloud to no one in particular. "How is it able to avoid all the holes in the ground and telephone pole lines in the sky?" I continued. "Hush! Just focus on catching up to it!" My sister responded. I keep my lips tight for fear of being nagged by her again. Instead, I conjure up some possible scenarios in my head. Maybe it's taking us to the high mountains where the rest of its people live? Or maybe to the hidden magical forests that only elves can enter... supposedly, according to the uncles in the village.
