During this time, I would like to continue supporting your child with their English Language Learning (ELL), specifically in their oral language. In order for me to do that, I will be posting a picture along with some questions everyday. I will need your help to:
Look at the picture with your child.
Ask your child questions about the picture.
Record what your child says and send it to me (Ms. Zhu).
How To Record Your Child
Please make sure that all recordings of your child are raw and unedited. This will help me understand how I can better support your child in their oral language acquisition.
For example, if your child says "I see cat look at girl" then I want to receive a recording of them saying "I see cat look at girl." I do not want an edited version of them saying "I see a cat looking at the girl." Unfortunately, that will not help your child or myself in any way.
You can use any of these methods to record your child, then send it to my email:
Write on paper, then take a picture
Typed
Voice/Audio recording
Video recording

Tips
Use the Suggested Vocabulary when talking about the picture.
Incorporate the recommendations below when conversing with your child. • Shorten your sentences • Slow down your speech rate • Use lots of repetition • Don't expect your child to use the word until they understand it • Self Talk: talk to your child about what you see in the picture (modelling)
You may find this writing template helpful for some of the Extension activities.
Thank you for your continued support in your child's learning and growth. Please remember to send me a copy of what your child said so I can keep a record of their growth as well. You can send it to my email or send me a message through the "Contact Ms. Zhu" page. Thank you.
