Directions

  1. Look at the picture with your child.

  2. Ask your child questions about the picture.

  3. Record (e.g. paper, typed, voice) what your child says and send it to Ms. Zhu.

Suggested Vocabulary

Ogre, children, boy, girl, forest, light, magic, flower, watering can, shovel, trees, basket


Questions

  1. Tell me about the picture. What do you see? What is going on?

  2. Why is there a glowing light over the flower? Where is it coming from?

  3. Why are there children in the woods?

  4. Do you think this is a good ogre or a bad ogre? What makes you think that?

  5. What do you think the ogre will do to the children if he finds them?


Adaptations

  • Provide sentence starters for your child. e.g. "I see...," "I think... because..."

  • Have your child draw what they think happened before or will happen next.


Extensions

  • Draw pictures of flowers that you think the ogre would want to take care of. What are the names of the flowers?
