Directions

  1. Look at the picture with your child.

  2. Ask your child questions about the picture.

  3. Record (e.g. paper, typed, voice) what your child says and send it to Ms. Zhu.

Suggested Vocabulary

Mushroom, larger, smaller, book, reading, forest, flowers, grass


Questions

  1. Tell me about the picture. What do you see? What is going on?

  2. Do the two smaller mushrooms know the larger one?

  3. Have they done this before? How do you know?

  4. What is the larger mushroom reading? What can you find inside the book?

  5. What do you think might be in the background?


Adaptations

  • Provide sentence starters for your child. e.g. "I see...," "I think... because..."

  • Have your child draw what they think happened before or will happen next.


Extensions

  • Pretend you are the larger mushroom and you are reading a book to smaller mushrooms. What book will you choose and why?
