Questions
Tell me about the picture. What do you see? What is going on?
What do you think the boy, girl, and bird are reading?
Do you think they like reading?
How long have they been here? How long will they stay for?
Does anyone else know about this place?
Adaptations
Provide sentence starters for your child. e.g. "I see...," "I think... because..."
Have your child draw what they think happened before or will happen next.
Extensions
Create a background music to match the picture using things you find around the house.
Design your dream reading space. What would it look like? What would it have? Who would be there? What reading materials will you put there (e.g. books, magazines, newspapers, etc.)? How will you display them?
